MEET INSTRUCTOR

Description

In “The Poet’s Toolbox,” students will delve into the world of poetry and develop some of the different types of strategies and tools established poets use. Through discussion and the examination of different exemplary poems, students will begin putting together their own toolboxes to write more and better poetry. In the first two weeks, you’ll learn about different types of poetic structures. Then, in part two, focusing on a few approaches to poems’ content, students will receive feedback from the instructor (hi, that's me!) and from peers. Each week of the course will include various readings, activities, and writing prompts. As this class is asynchronous besides our workshop days, students will work with the instructor to find times for one-on-one meetings at least once during the 4-week course. Each lesson will have an optional space to share responses to weekly activities and prompts (optional but encouraged!)
