pull out coiled fairytales
from backseats. i
unwind their pages,
wait for their melody to trickle away
like fluorescent signs by the
Gorgeously vivid and undeniably nostalgic. I was struck by the simultaneous uniqueness and aptness of the figurative language.

Esther Kim attends the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland. She will graduate in 2020. Although she was introduced to poetry in the fifth grade, she only started writing recently and uses poetry to better understand the world around her.
