billy is the co-founder of Polyphony Lit. He has been a high school teacher since 1984. He is the author of three books of fiction (The Logic of a Rose: Chicago Stories, a Chicago Tribune Best Fiction of 2005 selection, the novel-in-stories, How to Hold a Woman, and the novel, The Man with Two Arms). He is also the author of Meanwhile, Roxy Mourns, a book of poetry and prose. He won the Chicago Tribune 2011 Nelson Algren Short Story Prize for Clover. He has published his work in Cicada, Other Voices, StoryQuarterly, Bryant Literary Review, Tikkun, TriQuarterly, River Oak Review, The Coachella Review, The Chicago Reader, The Chicago Tribune, The Tishman Review, and Elysian Fields Quarterly, among other publications. billy has taught at Roosevelt University, Illinois Benediction College, Global Online Academy, and Northwestern University’s Summer Writing Conference.
