UWC Changshu (Changshu, China)

Creative Nonfiction

To start with, the author’s expert use of humor and sarcasm really keeps the reader engaged and diffuses the simmering tension underlying relationship-making in big family “dinners that fail to be avoided.” I appreciate how the author used the dinner table as a medium through which to show what, or who, different family members may care about or give less regard to. It feels organic and well reflective of reality.

Leila Yi currently attends UWC CSC and will graduate in 2024. Penning their best work in the witching hours, they also enjoy night photography and staring into the abyss.
